It's great that games are being developed that encourage exercise. Pokémon Go is frustrating to play with the overloaded servers right now. Hopefully, the kinks will be worked out soon.

My son and I have already walked 3 miles today searching for the little Pokemon!  Of course, I'm walking a bit slower because he's with me, but we're both getting extra exercise.  (I'm in the UK where it hasn't been officially released so it took a little doing to get set up)  It's really quite a lot of fun!

It's the perfect mix of childhood nostalgia and new technology. The game has gone a long way from having to link two AA-powered Gameboys with a cable. I'm currently at level 13 and am on team instinct (aka the yellow team).

What level and team is everybody on?

When will FitBit be linked to Pokemon Go so we can get notifyied when there are pokemon nearby?  I would really rather use my FitBit than use the Pokemon Go wrist tracker.  Maybe FitBit should have a talk with Pokemon Go and work out a deal. Smiley Very Happy

Sadly I have no room on my phone, and as far as I know you can't use apps stored on an SD  card.....bummer. *lol*

Edit: Trying to clear space as we speak.   I  outgrew Pokemon years ago (moved on to Final Fantasy, but if it  makes these horribly long, tedious walks more entertaining, so be it.   🙂  )

My 12 year old, who hates excercise of any kind, went walking twice today, walked 2 miles with me last night, and walked with me the night before.  You have to walk to collect pokemon and hatch eggs.  We've met so many people around town playing.  I'm just happy he is outside.

I'm Team Mystic - Blue Team. My area sucks for Pokemon. I'm currently level 5 about to hit 6. I have to drive 20 minutes to find anything good and to get any landmarks or even a Gym to compete...

The first activity tracker to link with Pokemon Go will win.  I rooting for Fitbit, since I already have one.  But I would drop my Fitbit in a heartbeat for whichever one links with Pokemon Go.

It is good that people have found a new way to get off the sofa and get outside. But, I hope they're being safe in doing it. This article indicates some of the problems people are creating with the game:  Railroad company says 'Pokemon Go' is putting players at risk

But, it is good that Nintendo has realized a $9 Billion increase in market share since they released this new game - Pokémon-Chasing Investors Send Nintendo Shares Soaring

Yup, after some 15-18 years of Pokemon celibacy, Go was the one that dragged me back in. *lol*   Been prowling the local campus and managed to get some waters and a random Jigglypuff.  My levels are in no way ready for the gyms though.  *lol*      I was just complaining to my boyfriend about a way to make these horribly long and tedious walks more fun too, so I guess it couldn't have come at a better time. Smiley Wink

My favorite quote floating around on FB is "Michelle Obama spent nearly 8 years trying get people to exercise. Nintendo did it in less than a week. Thanks, Obama." LOL!

I'm about to move up to level 14 and its all about TEAM VALOR!!!

Game is created by Niantic, which is an Alphabet company.  The Pokemon name is probably licensed from Nintendo.  Google, in fact, got people up off their butts to exercise.  Nintendo just lent them their name and made 9 billion doing so.

Playing just part time, I am currently at lvl 11 and fast approaching lvl 12.  I am glad I live in an area that is historical with tons of Poke Stops.  And a tiny very little known place called Disneyland.  The screenshot below shows just a small corner of the park.... I would probably run out of batteries on my phone before I can hit every Poke Stop.Screenshot_20160710-103742.png

I went to two parks today and saw dozens of people catching Pokémon with their kids, kids with other kids, adults driving around in their cars to catch them as well.

Team Mystic! Just hit level 10 and loving it. Walk anywhere between 5 - 8 km per day just on this.

Team Mystic, level 11. What's also weird is the level of community built into this game due to the need to leave your house to play it and cooperation in taking gyms. The teams in my area are even planning a bbq/potluck to battle each other at park gyms. The strange opportunity for this nerd to play video games, socialize, and get exercise at the same time! I love it!
