Recording Steps with Flex

I have a new fitbit flex and want to know how to overcome missing steps when pushing a cart or stroller or when holding onto the bar of a treadmill.  I logged the activity but it didnt correct the steps.   Please help!  Can I wear the flex on my ankle at times like this or in my bra temporarily if I know my arm wont be moving?

The main thing is to make sure it doesn't bounce around. You can stick it in your pocket, but if it's loose sweatpants and it's bouncing up and down against your leg you can rack up a lot more steps than you actually took. The same for hook it on a belt loop or something where it's free to flop around. It needs to be secured to you so it moves with you.

So is an ankle an option or is that too much movement?

Is returning it for a torso-mounted Fitbit an option?

That's what I'm considering. Maybe trading it for the Fitbit One
