Resting HR

I'm new to Fitbit. Ive had it for a week and i've become obsessed with checking my HR. It says  my resting HR is 55. I've noticed when sitting still it will move up and down between 57 and 63.  When walking around high 60s and 70s. Everything online says "normal" is 60-100. Anytime I see it goes under 60 I panic. I had to take the Fitbit off for a few days I was so obsessed.

I run 2-3 miles most days of the week, and I have been doing this for about 10 years. So if my HR goes under 60 is that ok?

Lower resting heart rate is better. Don't worry about so-called normal 60-100. Anything close to that high might be "normal"/average but certainly not healthy.

And of course there's probably some genetics in there, but lower is better. When you see it getting lower, celebrate rather than panicking.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

If you are not feeling light headed, weak or any other body signs that you lack energy, there is nothing to worry about. Otherwise see a doctor. Mine can get even lower than 55 and I think many people on these boards have a RHR in the 50's.

However, if you are concerned you can always see a doctor about it. Even if it turns out your RHR is ok, it can put your worry to rest, which is also very important.

My doctor was impressed that my resting heart rate was 50.  I am a runner and she said that athletes usually have lower resting heart rates and that it is a GOOD thing.  If you are feeling good then I would celebrate it!  Of course, if you have any health reason it should not be low or you aren't feeling well then see your doctor.
