Resting metabolic rate incorrect

 Hi,

I had a DEXA scan done so I know my exact body composition and exact resting metabolic rate.  The fitbit appears to estimate my metabolic rate based on the parameters I have entered, but it seems to be off by a few hundred calories.  Is there a way I can input my resting metabolic rate to fix it?

Also, why can't I enter my body composition details - lean mass and fat mass, so that it could more accurately calculate calories?

When I was first setting up Fit Bit, I think I recall it asking for my % body fat, which I entered, but now I can't find that anywhere on my profile.  Where is that, and how is it used?

Thanks.

Hi Pugley,

I'm going to leave most of the questions for someone with more knowledge, but I can assist with locating where to put your bodyfat %.  Go to your dashboard then Log then Weight and at the bottom you can enter your BF %.

I'm new to FitBit and have a Surge so I'm not sure if its different if you have another device...

Thanks for answering the question about body fat %.  It does work in the same way for me with the Charge HR.

I'm still looking for an answer about how to manually set my BMR.

Thanks

Hi Pugley, I couldn't agree with you more! The only way I work around it is use myfinesspal and set my my daily calorie intake as my resting metabolic rate and enter my calories then keep my my goals in mind-which for me is fairly easy because I'm just trying to maintain. I think we need to lobby product management at Fitbit
