Running first 5K

Not entirely sure I am writing in the correct "category", but I am signed up to do my first 5K this Saturday!!!  I am a nervous wreck, but excited to look back through my FitBit history to see what training days I did well and think on why those were better than other days!!!  Anyone who has run a 5K can you give me any tips for the night before and the morning of?  My biggest concern is that I am also taking a dance class (for toning) late Friday night and I know how sore I am from this class and I wanted to be sure this was not going to be overkill for the run.  Thoughts?

Iv done a few runs from 5k to half marathon the day before I usually do a morning run a little light resistance training in the afternoon and most importantly get a good nights sleep making sure you have your stuff ready for the run eg cloths, drink ,number on the day of the 5k have a breakfast your body is used to processing and you'll be ready to go and most importantly have fun 🙂 also always go the loo before it's starts running needing a wee is hard lol

Don't be nervous - you'll have a lot of fun! I have run multiple 5K's and here's what to expect : The first two miles are a relative breeze but the last mile will be the tough one. But just focus on not stopping - you can slow your pace down and that'll help. It doesn't matter if your running speed slows down to your walking speed - just don't stop trying.

When you are done, grab a drink of water, rest and relax - you made it. And have fun - that's the most important thing.

if my 5K is on a Saturday then I run 5 miles on Thursday and only walk and do some easy exercise on Friday to stay loose.  I always want fresh legs on the day of the race. That same race day if I am allowed I usually walk the course ahead of time or at least a mile or so.  Helps me loosen up and get familiar with the area if it is new to me.

If dancing makes you sore it may not be so bad as once you get moving you should loosen up and not feel any pain.  Unless you are talking joint pain.  I can't comment on that.
