Short, Wet Walk

This afternoon, after completing the garage cleaning & gardening I had planned for the day, I decided to take a walk to burn off some energy.  I had planned on walking my 6.25 mile route.  I checked the weather radar, and all seemed clear in our are, with the nearest storm a state & a half away. So, off I went on my aternoon walk.  Less than half way through the walk, the sky opened up with a downpour of rain.  In a few seconds, I was totally drenched. So, I turned around and headed home. Didn't get much exercise, but it was the coolest I have been for quite a while!  Smiley Happy

Fortunately, the Charge 2 didn't seem to mind the rain.  I dried it off and wrapped it up in a dry towel while I showered, and it is still working just like new...

That happened to me on a 7+ mile walk at Tyler State Park. I was about half way through the route when the sky opened up in a down pour, but the thing was if I turned around and went back I would have had to walk the same distance either way so I just pushed forward and did the whole walk.

There were soaking wet people hiding under trees as I walk past, and I was thinking that they are already as wet as a person could possibly be, so why are they hiding under trees...?

Anyway, it was a hot day so it actually felt great to have the cool rain pouring on me, and it turned out to be a very enjoyable walk.

I was able to make up for it today, @WendyB - the storms we had brought in a cool front and it was gorgeous today, with a high of 70°F. So, I was able to get a good walk in, even though it would normally be a day off.  Smiley Happy

I know what you mean, @bcalvanese, but I was only a little over 1.5 mile into my 6.25 mile walk. So, I decided to turn around a go back - there was lightning in the distance, and I didn't want to be part of getting lit up. But, it was nice getting cooled off!  I don't understand trying to hide under a tree, though - it not only won't keep you dry, but it becomes a magnet for lightning.

Today's stats after a nice walk through the country...

Getting cooled off = good.

Getting lit up = bad.

Glad you turned around!

I walk at a lake near my apartment, and one day I was half way around the lake when a thunderstorm came rolling in.

The only thing I could do was keep walking and pick up the pace to get back to my car as quickly as I could.

Lighting actually hit the lake I was walking around about 3 or 4 times, and the only thing between me and the lake was about 20 feet of grass.

@USAF-Larry Another example of Murphy's Law at work:  If you are going for a walk and the weather suddenly decides to become unexpectedly inclement, the point at which that happens will be at or near your furthest point from shelter.  You can count on it.
