On Charge 2, you cannot get a continuous display of current speed but, if you start run from phone app, you can get voice cues, at specified time or distance intervals, of distance, time, average pace, split place (split being mile or km), calories burned.

I know my Surge has that capability and I would assume the new Ionic does as well. That said, I don't have enough experience with a Charge 2 to be able to answer your question.
