Speed vs pace

I like my fit bit tracker very much, but at one pont I find it disagreeable - the measuring of pace vs. speed. I come from Norway, and we don't use pace-measuring. We use speed: Kilometer per hour. So even if I choose meters and kilometers as prefered unit, I still get pace-measuring instead of speed. For me the figures 12'37'' is quite absurd. I understand it means it takes me 12 minutes and 37 seconds to walk 1 kilometer, but I don't use this measuring at any pont in my daily life (except fitbit), so it feels quite meaningless...Why is it so difficult for you americans to understand that europeans and others have other ways of measuring, and it's not enough to put in kilometers and meters in your way of calculating - you must also turn the calculation around: Kilometers you go divided by the time it takes you to do it (kilometer/hour). If I had the opportunity to choose this way of calculating, it would be much easier for me to understand the tempo measuring. This is the calculating I have to do to convert into kilometer per hour: (1 kilometer / 12 minutes and 37 seconds (757 seconds) )x 3600 seconds = 4,755 kilometer pr hour. If Fitbit could make this calculating optional, it would make a lot of people around the world a little more happy!

Hello @KristinPellefan and welcome to the Community.  Most Americans don't want pace in their walks, either  We prefer speed.  Unfortunately, Fitbit chose pace for its walking stat.  There are no plans to change this.  Believe me, we hate it, too.

@LZeeW not only Americans 🙂 Pace isn't useful metric for walking/hiking same as speed isn't useful metric for running.

@KristinPellefan I think we all agree that we should be able to custom choose pace vs speed. Maybe someday.. 🙂
