Cheers to those of us who suffer from chronic illness, long covid, accidents and anything else that makes you think of the saying - fall down nine times, get up ten! We can’t all make those 10,000 steps a day but we can work as hard as we can to keep going forward.
Tell us your story. What motivates you? What tricks do you use? How do you work around the seemingly impossible? For me, the trick is to listen carefully to my body. When it says “rest,” I rest. I discovered that while I may not be able to do a lot at one time, I can do a little, several times a day. And it all adds up. After an accident that left me with a complex, triple break of my right humorous, I rested. My body would not allow anything else. But as soon as I was able to start moving safely and more comfortably … I set my goal to 2,000 steps/day and turned Reminders to Move back on. Following the advice of my doctor and my physical therapist, I started upping my goal and am happy to report that I am up to 9.000 steps/day. Yay! Not bad for someone who was incapacitated and in a wheel chair in late February.
So, again I ask you - tell us your story. What motivates you? What tricks do you use? How do you work around the seemingly impossible? Together, we can motivate each other and celebrate our milestones.

For me it isn't motivation it is routine and a firm belief that I have to do it. I ignore aches, pains and excuses because in the long run I am better off doing it than skipping it. I can't count on motivation because it comes and goes, but routine and will... they are always with me.
