Below are examples of steps impact over the last 4 days. Same amount of time. Pretty much the same intensity..
Saturday 17th October
Sunday 18th October
Monday 19th October
Tonight (more intense, dominant hand (setting changed on Fitbit, previously on non-dominant hand which was also correctly reflected on Fitbit)

Please note, each session was exactly 30 minutes!
I obviously don't care about the steps as I'm spinning, most importantly the heart rate is registered correctly , which I have no complaints with. But if someone can please explain why the steps impact is so vast, I'd appreciate it !
Thanks

The steps are just a side effect of any wrist movements that may be detected as steps. Fitbit doesn't stop detecting steps even for non-step based activities and in those cases steps are more like an artefact rather than intended reading.

agree with the replies you already have. the steps are not actually measured, so what you are getting is some loose data of whatever it may be picking up. you can try an experiment and move your tracker arm as if you are walking to see if it helps. I do that at times on the elliptical to try to get to a close proximity of actual stepping.
