Spinning Anyway

Tomorrow I'm going to do a 40 minute Spin routine.  I'll probably burn 425 calories.  I'll probably average over 80% of my HRmax,  I'll probably get less than 15 Cardio points for it.

I rowed for 30 minutes today.  I put in about the same effort and got awarded 63 Cardio Points for it

Maybe I should row tomorrow because it generates more points in less time.  But I'm committed to the diversity of alternating exercises.  I'm not going to let the weird result of the Spinning app keep me from doing what I think is right.

Well,I got on the bike and hit it pretty hard for a guy a month away from his 77th birthday.  My Fitbit gave me 77 Active Zone Minutes for a 40 minute ride.  Google Fit gave me 40 Heart Points.  The  bike said I burned 421 calories.  The Spinning App awarded a Cardio Load of 10 for it.  What's wrong with that picture?  Just to rub it in, my Fitbit gave me 10 more "general activity" Cardio points for my six minute recovery.

Something is seriously wrong with the Spinning App.

Hi @YachatsMike

Yeah, spinning & biking don't seem to be getting the same Cardio Load love as other activities. Swimmers totally lose out since Fitbits don't track heart rate during swimming. 😖

You can submit this issue by using the Feedback option in the Fitbit app.

  • Tap on your picture in the upper right of the Today page
  • Tap on Feedback in the menu that opens
  • Complete the prompts & submit

Although it's likely that you won't receive a response, the team receives & reviews the feedback reports. At least it's a way to let them know that they need to fix the Cardio Load issue with spinning & biking.

It looks like the latest Fitbit App update (4.40) might have fixed the Spin exercise.  Did my last spin like usual and got 68 Cardio points instead of the 12 I've gotten in the past.  That's more like it!
