I just started ATA taekwondo? What do you all think about wearing weighted gloves and ankle weights during the classes? I need to lose this COVID weight and tone my body back up. I am tired of being COVID tired!

Hi @Hadden8176, very interesting topic!
I've seen some people use the weighted gloves and ankle weights with amazing results for weight loss, but I do recommend that you make sure first that you don't have any back problems or any type of health problem that could cause pain in your joints.
This really depends on the person, cause I've seen people use them without any problem whatsoever, but in some case people do start feeling some pain. In my case, I was training very hard at the gym (not with the weighted gloves and ankle weights), and suddenly started to feel some pain in my back, so after I visit to the doctor I found out I had 3 hernias in my lower back and now have constant pain (but not too intense) in my right leg.
If you're gonna use these accessories, always make sure to use them with some moderation! And try to combine it other exercises or activities for weightless whenever possible.

maybe start with one and see how you do before doing both. it is very easy to get hurt and then you won't be doing much of anything. if you just started, you are probably still working out the correct form and positions. maybe work up to adding weight when you are completely comfortable in the activity.

I have been using them about 50% of the time in the classes. Im trying to get my kicks higher and my punches stronger. Also just building basic muscle is a goal too.
