Talk about motivation: Charity Miles

If you have not heard of the charity miles app, you should give it a whirl.  I have joined the Hogwarts Running Club (find them on Facebook) and am a proud Hufflepuff.  (don't judge).  As part of our competition for the House Cup, we go on virtual runs (shiny medals) and compete for points.  One of the ways of earning points is the use of chairty miles.  With this free app, you get sponsored by a corporation (think Humana or Johnson&Johnson) and they pay $.25 a mile (running/walking) or $.10 a mile cycling.  You have to keep your smart phone on you, and it works best strapped to your arm (I keep mine on my wrist) and needs to be the last app you open.  There are a TON of great causes to support--animals, vets, St. Judes, Autism, etc.  Global and National.  And it makes me MOVE.  I love see those dollar signs add up.

So, if you need a little pep in your step, consider joining a running club, and think about downloading Chairty Miles!

It does, I just use the music on my phone to add extra justification. A lot of people have recommended running belts... But I have never covered distances that seemed to justify the need, but it is another possible solution. I agree with you, part of the joy of having my charge hr was putting the smartphone down... Does feel like a step back, but I can run apps like STRAVA, too, and blast my music like a kid... So. And I promise you, seeing those numbers add up gets me pumped and I tend to go further!
