Thinking of attempting a million step month in March.

I thought it would be cool to walk a million steps in a month.  I wonder if anyone knows of anyone who has accomplished such a goal.  I am a professional golf caddie and obviously walk a great deal.  I've only been averaging about 23,000 steps a day, so I would have to 'step' it up a notch.

@ProCaddie- It is a difficult thing to do mainly because it takes a lot of dedication to average over 32k/day every day for a full month. I had to put some other things on hold in order to make it!.

May 17 was a make up a big deficit day for me lol, I was behind by a fairly large amount and decided to catch up. I wanted the 70k badge too so it helped out. That's another one I won't be doing often although want to get that 100k badge some day as well.

It was a good idea for a challenge. Glad you posted about it and glad it was accomplished 🙂

@ProCaddie @GSaldiveri  That is amazing!  Wow, so many steps!

While I would love to attempt this, my 8-5 job as an accountant keeps me sitting a lot.  I'm lucky to get a 20K step day, but usually average 15K.  I just don't think I have the time during the day because of my job to average 32K+ steps a day.

If you assume that an active person might take 8k steps a day without thinking about it, then you need to find an extra 3(light running) to 4(moderate walking) extra hours a day to reach a 1MM. It takes some dedication (and training) but not overwhelming. I am retired (makes it a lot easier) and somewhat devoted to walking/hiking/jogging (don't much like running anymore) and have averaged just about 1 millions steps a month over the last 3.5 years (from Walking4fun.com):

@Heather-S- you usually wind up pretty good during the challenges, last week you had just under 80k if I recall. That ain't too shabby. Some of us are just a little crazy I think lmao.

@checking- I've read a few posts in the last few days where there was mention of that Walking4Fun site. I might have to check it out!

@GSaldiveriWhat was your schedule like on most days to complete this?

I am thinking about trying for a 30k step day one day this week to see if it’s even possible with my desk job. 😂

@Heather-S  - My schedule is all over the place every week. I just work (walk) around it. It's a lot easier for me now that it's just me and my wife at home. We don't have anything to worry about except us.

Pick a day lol we'll help push ya along 😉

I walked 1.1 million steps in a month. I work in an office, averaging only 1500 steps between 9-5. So I had to get the rest of my steps (over 30,000 per day) before/ after work. No secrets, just a commitment to spending a lot of time walking/ jogging/ running. And after that month was over, I figured I'd do the same for 2 months in a row.

The math says you need to average about 11,200 steps per day to reach 1 million in 3 months.  The key is not to stay healthy and not fall behind.  If you miss a couple days and have to double your steps to catch up, it's very difficult.  Best of luck!
