Tracking Farm Work

I’m wondering how to track general farm work (baling/stacking hay, vigorous garden work, feeding cattle, etc.). The closest I have found is the Gardening selection. Our garden work covers nearly half an acre and is much more than just simply planting flowers or picking vegetables. Working with hay is a very intense workout. Any input would be helpful! Thanks!

If you have a model that tracks heart rate, you can simply choose the generic 'workout' mode for your timed exercise sessions.

I agree but not knowing the model you have we cant tell you how to use it.

The manual is listed on any help page for the devise you are using at the top. well worth a read

@adams2061Since you have been with Fitbit for couple of years I will assume you have a HR model and can select Workout as the others have suggested.. Check this link where I have posted a similar idea to use Workout and rename it to any subset you want such as Hay stacking, Hay Baling, Feeding stock etc..

It works for me... See how you go.

whatever you call it should be something that you can easily identify time after time as the same activity. The name doesn't contribute to the effort or alter the steps or calories burned. It is just an identifier so you can do a comparison time over time of effort or whatever is a goal or metric you find important.

Just use heart rate and calories burned as an indicator and don't worry about a specific exercise mode.

These machines are a bit limited.

Since general farm work is your normal daily background activity, I wouldn't even try to track it.  The tracker will adjust calories somewhat based on higher HR and the movement that is involved when your activity is more intense than walking from one part of your farm to another, and it will go down when you sit to rest and catch your breath.
