I know a lot of folks use treadmills but I just cant for some reason.
The time goes by soooooooo slooooooooow. A minute seems like an hour.
It feels funny to my legs. Like I'm just keeping up wityh a belt instead of moving my body accross the ground.
It feels too easy. My Sister can run 3 miles on her treadmill yet cannot even run a quarter mile on the actaul ground.
I much prefer jogging/power walking outside in the local parks. I see many other people to say hi to. I can look see nature and get some fresh air. And I am actaully moving my body along the ground and adjustin to irregularities of the ground with each step.
Blazing heat or freezing cold does not bother me either. I stay hydrated and dress accordingly.
I would like to know what other people prefer, and why they prefer one over the other.

Yup, spent New Year's Eve 1984/New Year's Day 1985 in Rio; what a party! 🙂

I've used a TM at home in the past during the wintertime (did 14 miles on it one time), but being lazy in some regards, I tend to continue using it even in good weather and the spring - just because it's easier just to "jump on" and saves a little time in comparison to running outside.
But the advantages of going outside far outweigh staying inside. Uneven terrain builds good musculature and non-extreme weather variables are enjoyable to me. Like many runs through my neighborhood, I can sometimes enjoy running in the rain; see deer, osprey, bald eagles, and alligators; smell clothes drying and bacon cooking; run flat or hilly routes, and enjoy the fresh air. Stubbing my toe on a root or tripping over myself are things I can live with - they rarely happen anyway.
If I had a TM now, it probably wouldn't get used except on the worst weather days.

To me, using a treadmill is not any better or worst than jogging outside. They both have their pros and cons. Treadmill is more convenient. Jogging outside is more enjoyable. I jog on the treadmill more than outside, because there's nothing for me to see outside anyways and where I live is not the safest place to be running outside. What I like about the treadmill is you can push yourself by increasing speed and inclines. Running outside is great but I usually just keep a steady pace. I use the treadmill for 30-45min a day and it actually doesn't feel too boring or long because it's a time where I listen to my favorite songs and I use that time to meditate.
