Considering buying a treadmill in anticipation of shorter days and colder weather. Any recommendations on brands, features, etc? Will be used primarily for walking. Would prefer something on the small and quiet side. Thanks!

I have been using a treadmill for about 10 years now and I have a few tips to offer. First, I would make sure to buy one with a motor. I have tried a few of the manual treadmills and I did not like them and they gave me pain in my knees. I am using a ProForm that I bought at Sears and it has given me about 8+ years of trouble-free service, and my whole family uses it daily.
One other tip is for the placement of your treadmill. Make sure that you can watch television or something to keep your attention while you are working out on the treadmill. Using a treadmill is a fairly boring activity, but I find that if I am engaged watching television or a video, I am able to walk additional steps without even realizing how much I had walked.
Good luck and keep exercising.

If I was buying one, in addition to getting one that is motorized I would also get one that has adjustable incline so that I could get intervals in while walking.
