Two questions

1, Can I use my fitbit for off road motorcycle enduro racing?

2, What is the best way to use a fitbit in the gym? My blaze has a timer, I do not want to stop start the clock every time I get on the machine and I don't want to count the time taken walking to the water machine chatting exercising my jaw (If you know what I mean).

Note:- telling me not to chat has been said already ha ha.

thanks in advance.

you can wear your fitbit anywhere, but sometimes it picks up vibration as steps. I am thinking on a bike it will happen for sure.

Your other question you answered. Your tracker will pick up activity and log it for you provided you do it long enough and with enough intensity. It will not back out the time you spend being social. The stop watch is your only option to take out down time.

As a side note, I never understood the being social aspect of the gym. I say hello and do all the pleasantries but stopping to have an actual conversation annoys me :). I just want to sweat and go.

Regarding your second question: my resistance training is focused on strength (lower number of reps with heavier weights, longer rest between sets). This means a large part of each session (in fact, the majority) is spend resting between sets and actual lifting is the minority. This is reflected in the fact calories burned during a 50-minutes session recorded as "Weights" is a lot lower than calories burned during the same period recorded as "Walk", "Run" etc. Nevertheless, your Fitbit is able to detect the intensity of your activity (via HR, impacts) at various times during the session and it does take it into account. In other words, I don’t see a problem  with your small talk at the water fountain: it’s going to be treated as rest time (which you would probably have anyway, unless you are doing some kind of super-intense circuit training with hardly any pause).
