Walking up hill

ANSWERED

I usually walk on a treadmill several miles a week with a flat surface setting  If I add interval incline settings, will the FLEX calculate more steps?

Also, does the FLEX calculate steps for the eliptical machines?

I don't have a treadmill, but my understanding is that Fitbit trackers (even those that have an altimeter, and can track "floors") won't tell the difference if your treadmill is inclined or not: for them, a step is a step and you will be granted the same number of steps and calories, regardless of inclination.

When walking outdoors, Fitbit trackers that have an altimeter (eg. One, Force) will grant floors as you walk uphill. However, they won't take that into consideration when calculating calories or very active minutes.

The treadmill incline doesn't change the steps on a  flex, at least it didn't on mine.  However, if the treadmill is yours, you should walk on at least a slight incline because it is much easier on the belt.  Yes, your steps count on the eliptical, IF (caveat here) you move your arms with the handle bars.  If you hang onto the stationary bars, it won't count your steps.

No (at least not the full amount), because there is no impact. See:
