Hi all, I went for a run at lunchtime today on the treadmill. I put my new fitbit into treadmill mode and it tracked my run nicely. However, it also included my steps during the run in the daily total of steps. Why does it do this...I want to know the calories I've burnt from walking and the calories burnt from running. I don't want running steps to be counted as walking steps.
Am I being stupid here?
I also put why fitbit into running mode and did a short run. My run was tracked but again the steps were included. Why does this happen and how can I exercise without the steps been added in?

Why would you want to exclude steps from typical step-based activities like running and walking? They won’t affect in any way the energy expenditure (calories) estimated by Fitbit for the activity you recorded. Record a 30 minutes run and you will have calories for that activity (and steps as a bonus). Record a 30 minutes walk and you will also have the calories for that activity. Or is there something I didn’t understand? What Fitbit model do you have, btw?

Thanks for the quick response.
I enter my daily steps into MyFitnessPal and then add other activites like running in there too. I tried syncing them up but the calories I supposedly burn are huge.
Using Fitbits calories I'm burning ovee 3k per day but I'm only eating about 1500. If I ate around 3k calories per day I'd gain so much weight.

any steps you take will be counted towards your daily overall steps. That is the design of the tracker. Your calories however, can be seen by activity just as already described. it will also tell you the impact of your activity which shows the number of steps taken during that activity. so although it is all lumped together- it is broken down for you so you know exactly what effort was put into the activity.
