Working at a desk job help

I work at a office building. I'm a security guard. I can not leave my desk without another guard being at the desk I feel like a complete pain in the butt having to ask them to come up so I can walk around my fitbit gets me up every hour to at least walk 250 steps. Any ideas on how to get more steps in between evening hours so I dont have to bother my other guard so much. Any and all advice would be beneficial.

Can you stand at your desk and walk in place (or around the desk) for a minute or so every 20 minutes? That should get your 250/hr. If people look at you funny, tell them you need to do it for your circulation, which really is why you do it.

Also most jobs have a break of 15 minutes (or more, e.g., lunch) every two hours - I assume you have a sit in for those? Try to arrange so that they span hour changes - for example at lunch, start walking 5 minutes before the hour and go until 5 minutes after - two hours covered, then continue break as available.

I think you were looking for ideas on how to get more steps in, in the evening hours? I am going to assume that this is when you are not stuck at the desk. My suggestion is to NEVER go straight home. Stop at the grocery (maybe get some fresh veg etc) but park at the back of the lot and walk in and walk the whole store. Do not get a cart, get a basket as it will allow you to move faster. Especially in the winter I will go to Costco and just wander around. I also go to the gym and just sloog it out on a tread mill if I know I am not going to hit my steps goals. It is not always fun but it will get it done. If you live in a larger apartment complex you can walk all the floors taking the stairs in between as another quick way to spike the steps.
