Did you mean:

exercise calories added to calories able to eat

If I have a strenous workout and burn say 550 calories does that get added on to the amount of calories I can eat?

Yes.

The weight loss plan you select operates on a deficit, so if you burn more calories on a particular day, Fitbit will tell you to eat more calories that day.

depends on your goals, and your food sources.

Used to think, gonna eat a big amount of junk food later during the football game so better exercise hard to make it a 0 impact.

But depending on your training and your goals, one so called 'earned meal' or cheat meal' can undo DAYS of working out/exercise.  Count calories or not.  Especially true if you're eating clean.

All that said, you SHOULD be consuming a larger portion of your carbs BEFORE you workout so your body has energy to perform....hit up other macros/micros after working out for recover.

Part of the negative of just counting calories, using your example..workout hard, extra 550 calories, maybe 'earned' extra 550 calories to maintain balance between calories in/out -- you could probably have 750 calories if sources from veg, lean proteins, grains....but get those calories from fatty meats, or processed carbs, or similar nutrient poor sources and you'll likely have wasted your extra 550 cals and actually packed on some more fat -- particularly to your midsection.

Think about the last time in the gym and seeing dudes lifting heavy weights and carrying around a spare tire around their belly....something not quite right.
