fitbit flex vs. traditional pedometer

Just a question - not a complaint......I've had the Flex for about 3 months and really like it.  Last week, as part of a incentive program through work, I got a pedometer.  Tonight the counts are ~3,000 steps off, with the pedometer being higher.  Any thoughts on what may cause this?  Thanks!

Which one did you count to confirm which is closer to correct?

That free cheap pedometer I got for similar challenge was off by 50%, too low, on manually counted steps.

@keiferRead this link about the Flex accuracy, they suggest to put the Fitbit device itself into your pocket. I would be doing the 100 step test and Fitbit expect that to be 95-105 steps on a test.
