@catmah.. just curious, are you doing sit ups for an extended period of time that it counts as a workout? or are you tracking data to see your caloric expenditure during?

@bourby Not really the same. Crunches are designed to engage only abdominal muscles while sit ups engage a number of additional muscles groups and are more likely to cause injuries.
