Best Options For Logging Food

I'm curious to hear other people's recommendations and ideas regarding the best option for food logging. I've just returned to more active Fitbit usage after some years of just counting steps and that's all. I hoped that the food logger would have improved, but aside from the Macronutrients feature (which is welcome) it still seems a little lightweight. Aside from a list of 20 frequent and 20 recent items, it seems like you need to add everything manually. And I don't see any way to copy/paste a whole meal either, which seems like a no brainer.

I do have the option of tracking food in a different app, but I tried that with the app I used to use (MyFitnessPal) for food tracking, and while it does sync across to Fitbit, it comes in as a generic "Summary" item which seems less than ideal.

Recipes was another function I remember liking on other apps too - it seems so much more useful than the generic "custom food" option in Fitbit

So, what do other people do to overcome these issues? Recommendations?

Hey there,

MyFitnessPal has the biggest food database available, with over 14 million foods to help you accurately log everything you eat. And with innovative tools like Meal Scan, logging your entire meal is faster than ever. Just point your phone's camera for real-time, AI-powered results—no food search necessary.  Hi,

You can write it down on paper, keep notes on your computer or digital device, or use a diet tracking website or app. You track the times you eat, the foods you eat, portion sizes, and notes about what you were doing or feeling at the time using most of these methods. for more tips and tricks about the diet visit here

Hi @kevmartin

I like MyFitnessPal especially the Premium version. I have used Chronometer in the past. I really liked it too.

Admittedly, I'm bogged down with the same task and opted for "myfitnesspal" given that there are so many errors and limitations within the fitbit food tracking function.

That said, you should also know that a great deal of the basic and detailed micronutrient information is also wrong in myfitnesspal. You'll also run into 20 variations of the same item. I ended up editing most of the food items I added to my food diary because I'd really like to know all of the (accurate) details in a given day or week.

Hope this helps...

Yes, I have noticed that - multiple versions of the same item, and some of them clearly wrong in various ways. I've settled into using FitBit's database most of the time, and if I can't find something there I use MFP, which syncs it as a "summary" entry. Homemade recipes/meals are best done in MFP too as it has a much better system for doing that. Hopefully FitBit eventually gets around to improving their system.

Cheers.
