I've been working on a weight loss plan for a long time. I've finally managed to start losing weight over the last year but keep running into an issue that I guess is binge eating. I feel this intense need to eat even when I know my body doesn't need more food.
It's not dealing with problems/emotional eating. It's killing my weight loss plan. The "just don't eat" or "have more willpower" isn't cutting it.
I've been doing keto for months so it's not from a sudden diet change. Anyone have ideas on why or how to get past the intense need to eat?

@mcadoo most eating issues or tendencies or habits are born of something else. It is your mind craving something, or let's say feeling nostalgic of something or talks you into a reward for your hard work. You won't know what the reason is until you investigate the when, why, how, what..
When does the need to eat strike? What are you doing, reading, not doing, watching when the emotion to eat hits. How are you eating it? What are you eating? A little self analysis will go a long way to help identify why it is happening to you. Keep asking yourself questions.. you will get there.

Also you might try drinking 8 oz of water before you give in to eating. The signal to your brain for hunger and thirst can be similar and people mistake thirst for hunger and eat and then eat some more because the body is still signally thirst. Next time you know you really don't need to eat, drink a big glass of water and wait 20 minutes. Then see if you still 'feel' hungry or not. Best of luck!
