I love fresh seafood and I eat it often...at some point, I went for a normal routine check-up and my doctor said I have a trace of protein in the urine... I asked if I should stop eating proteinous food and he objected but admonish me to control it..... What time is best for me to eat protein?

@SeanDtrade Great question. According to the International Society of Sports Nutrition, consuming protein any time up to two hours after your workout is ideal for building muscle mass. For the average person, resistance exercise and consuming sufficient protein are more important than timing protein intake. I found this article, it might useful to you.

@YojanaFitbit The article pretty much debunks the myth of the anabolic window. Same as this research paper: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3577439/
The exception of training fasted makes sense and assumes there is no pre-workout taken (which for many people nowadays isn't a case because pre-workout supplements are kind of "trendy").
The anabolic window theory comes from times when people didn't know any better. To be more specific, from Arnold Schwarzenegger times 🙂 The AW theory doesn't have any support in science and has been formed by word of mouth and observation. If somebody who amateur bodybuilders could look up to was doing something then it had to be the right thing to do. So after the workout people were rushing to have their chicken with rice (and broccoli!) and flush it down with a gallon of milk because... well... this is what they were doing back then. Now we know a lot more, science stepped in and there have been studies done. But it takes time to change people's minds so this myth will be alive for a very long time.
I don't look at the time of eating protein as long as I have it eventually and quantities are right (here's another thing, lots of people overeat protein but that's another topic). I'm not a bodybuilder and muscle growth isn't my main goal (in fact isn't at all, my goal is to be lean, light but strong and strength is not only about muscles). Most studies suggest that the time of taking the protein isn't as much important as providing enough of it and this is what I follow.

Hi @SeanDtrade, I can see you've already gotten some reading materials and advice. I'm going to turn the question back to you and ask you to really pay attention to how you feel after you eat proteins, track the time of day and what you ate and monitor how you slept and felt the next day. I find my body often tells me what, when and how much of things it needs if I take the time to really listen to what it is telling me. Our bodies tend toward health is way pay attention to the signs it give us. I hope that helps.
