What is the best thing to eat before bed? Bed time is between 9:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m and I ate dinner at 7:00 p.m. but now I am hungry.

I'm one of those eaters that needs that full feeling. I hope to shake it one day but for now my go to if i need it before bed is oatmeal. Nothing fancy.

Doing weighttraining, I was recommended by professionals to eat a bowl of soup before going to sleep.

Why eat soup right before going to sleep? What type of professionals? I can see for dinner or a couple hours before sleep.

Snacking after dinner is a truly big problem for me. I have to stay out of the kitchen or I'm in BIG TROUBLE. I do fine all day long. I eat out of boredeom. Guess I need to find a new hobby. Love to read eveyone's suggestions.

I love Bedtime tea by Yogi before bed. It is the most delicous tea I've ever had! It really sooths the body and helps me wind down at the end of the night.
I have a Cuisinart dual coffee maker and hot water maker and the water side comes out piping hot and quick. It's awsome!

I try not to eat right before bed. I do drink herbal or decaf tea (usually in the cooler months). Occasionally, I have a piece of dark chocolate as a treat.
All that being said, if I am craving something, some plain Greek yogurt with a little honey is nice.

Def don't agree with alot of these choices...It would depend on how hungry you are and what you ate previously. If i eat something too light then it's like i didn't eat anything and just ate wasted food. I personally wouldn't eat cheese or rice before bed. Cheese isn't very good for you to start with and rice to me isn't much better than plain bread. Whole greek yogurt with honey and berries is a good choice but also may not really fully satisfy you before bed. Different for everybody. Sometimes a wasa cracker with almond butter is enough for me other times fruit works. Your body doesn't crave the same thing all the time and it craves what it needs generally (though the source may not always be sufficient) Ofcourse i could eat a burger an hour before bed and be fine ha

I am going to comment in general on pre-bedtime snacking. I have come to realize that for me at least, it is more habit than hunger. I tend to eat dinner late, because of work and meal prep, so except for the previously mentioned cup of tea -- it's really not necessary for me to eat after dinner. If I have eaten enough protein and carbs during the day, I am not really hungry. However, like a lot of people, I just want something later. So if the tea isn't enough (try Pukka After Dinner or Yogi Egyptian Licorice), check your food choices during the day.

Oh yeah! Definitely habbit. I say for me it's 70% habit, 30% just not feeling full like I like to. I almost feel deprived if I don't have that full feeling.

@RealNature I'm curious about the soup and and weight training comment. What kind of soup? What are the benefits.
As for the conversation topic.
I wouldn't eat any carbs right before bed if you can help it.
I usually make a small protein shake with Casien protein. You body does a lot of repair at night and this "slow drip" protein feeds the body what it needs. I also take Chromium Picolinate, Alpha lipoic acid, and Slo Niacin to aid with digestion and absorption. Helps break down the sugars.

I have all sorts of tea, Celesterial Seasons Bedtime Tea and Stash's Chamomile Tea are nightly faves. Also....celery w a smear of peanut butter or cheese spread, small amount of cottage cheese or yourgurt, 1/2 a piece of fruit. Make a list of standbys. Just by listing a few here I feel more ready for tonight.

Due to stress and other medical issues, I often forget to eat before going to bed and the last time I usually eat is 3pm or so I was recommended a basic chocolate and milk protein shake (130 cal) to drink before bed.

It depends on your goals and diet plan. Some have said that you shouldn't eat before bed. That is right for their diet but it may not be for everyone.
If it is within your calorie budget and allowed on your diet then you can have it, no questions asked.
I eat cottage cheese and a banana before bed or porridge made with almond milk and quark topped with chopped almond nuts. I choose these because I have reached my weight goal and am now trying to add muscle, I can see by other comments that others have a similar goal/diet.

I work an overnight shift so I don't get off work til 6 AM. I then take my son to school most days before I can head to bed. So breakfast is usually my bedtime snack. I have learned that oatmeal or a hot cereal keep me full throughout the day (my night) and help me get warm, cozy, and ready to sleep. :~)
