Did you mean:

Fluid intake

ANSWERED

I'm sure this must have been asked before but can't find it, does tea, coffee and made up cordial count as part of your fluid intake for the day as it's made of water or is it counted seperate as its water with something added in. I count water seperate to any other drinks at the moment. What do others people do?

How you count your water intake is a personal decision but I would like to tell you what my Doctor told me:

There is no substitute for water; soda (which I drink twice a year, if that), teas, coffee, juice all contain water but the additive may not be healthy for you. Drink plain water its better for you!

As a result juice goes to waste in my house and I drink less coffee. My hair and skin has benefited as well.

Hello @Chewi789, thanks for joining us, it's great to have you on board! Smiley Happy

I moved your post from the iOS board to our Eat well section on the discussions board so it can have more and better attention from our members.

Most people take coffee an tea in consideration when counting their fluid intake, as well as soups or other water based foods, however, keep in mind that caffeinated beverages can have a dehydrating effect, which is why personally I don't count them in my daily intake. In the end, this is mainly a personal decision, and many people tend to compensate each cup of coffee or tea with 2 cups of extra water.

I hope this can be helpful, in case you need anything else, please feel free to reply. Smiley Wink

Thanks man that's awesome! I don't have coffee very often and my tea is caffeine free, so maybe I'll count them, I'm getting nearly 3lts of water a day if you count tea and cordial as well as water and I'm have to go for a wee way too often. Again thanks for the help.

Hello @Chewi789, I hope you're having a great day.

Usually, when I take a cup (250ml) of coffee, I compensate it with 2 cups of water (500ml). I sure love coffee but I allow myself taking only one or one and a half cups per day.  Keep in mind that you can always adjust your water goal by going to the Fitbit app > Account > Nutrition & Body

I hope to see you around the Community more often, if there's anything else I can do for you, feel free to reply!

Go ahead and count anything you drink. In fact, if you are having soup, count that too.

As for coffee and the like being dehydrating, I call BS. But don't believe me, read and decide for yourself:
