Food Processor recommendations?

Hi Everyone,

I am interested in a buying a food processor. I have a small one and would like to purchase an eight cup food processor. Does anyone have recommendations for a brand? I saw at William Sonoma one that is about $100. I would like one that is easy to use and maybe last 3-5 years.

It depends on how much you plan on using your food processor. I have three different sizes to suite the needs of what I am doing/creating. I used to spend a lot of time cooking so I have a very 'serious' Cuisinart that does absoultely everything but is a pain to clean! I also have smaller Cuisinart machines for those times I only want to quickly puree something.

This is for the big jobs when preparing big meals such as Thanksgiving

I use this one a lot for the little jobs, even if I have to fill several times to get the amount I want.

I also have a Vita Mix that I use for making smoothies and sometimes soups.

good luck and I bet you already bought one and I hope it serves you well!

I have a 14 cup cuisinart like pictured above, and am quite happy with it. For a hand blender, I would recommend a Bamix. I broke an Oster, Kitchen Aid and a Cuisinart. The Bamix is expensive, but it has outlasted all 3 of the others. While we are at it, I would recommend a Blend Tec (which I have) or Vitamix blender.

As a born contrarian, I prefer KitchenAid, in all things kitchenenie.  I've had a stand mixer 30 years.  A blender, and a couple of food processors.

Yet depending on the job, I also use a knife and a countertop mandolin.  Which is way better at cutting veg than my top of line KitchenAid food processor.  It was relatively cheap at BedBathandBeyond.  I use it to slice zuchini, carrots, cucumbers, onions, so much stuff.

Yet, making butter in a food processor is a whirl.  Literally.  And making gazpacho is naturally a food processor way to go.  Even some cookie doughs, etc.  Though I tend to use a stand mixer for those and bread.  Though, some recipes can use a food processor.

It all depends on the task.  But, my brand is KitchenAid, the motor's are measurably better

I have the big Cuisinart pictured above.  Although I don't find it too bad to clean, it's annoying to use.  The safety switch requires you to pull the inner sleve from the lid before you can remove the lid.  So when you're making something where you add large ingredients in stages or need to frequently scrape down the sides it's a multi-step process just to remove the lid.
