Gluten-free Pizza recipes?

ANSWERED

Hi there!

So, last month I learned about how a migraine can be the result of a gluten intolerance. This may not be news to many of you, but as someone who has suffered from migraines since childhood, this completely caught me by surprise. I have cut down the gluten intake and I've only had one very light migraine since! Smiley Very Happy

One BIG craving of mine is pizza. I've found gluten free dough (garlic and herb) from Trader Joe's is amazing. But I'm also curious about other/homemade recipes... Does anyone have any favorite cauliflower pizza crust recipes? Or other, non-frozen, gluten-free dough products that can be purchased in a store?

Open to any and all suggestions!

Thank you! Smiley Happy

Grain-free pizza from the store (or Dominoes) never tastes the same! It's awesome that they  have it, but my husband gets so tired of all the "gluten-free-fixes" that I buy 😛 Homemade is nearly always better, so here are a couple of the recipes I used:

Cauliflower Pizza Crust

Spaghetti Squash Pizza Crust

If you find spaghetti squash (or any of those amazing-yet-impossible-to-cut squashes) difficult to work with, try this Crock Pot tip.

To be 110% honest, though, it was a lot easier to ultimately cut out all of this stuff. Even though it tastes fine, when eating something like paleo pizza or even paleo birthday cheesecake or something similar, all you really think is "it's not the same..." I've found that, other than the seldom "cheat," it's easier to just cut it compeltely. Also, if you keep having migraines, you might try doing an AIP diet for a month or two... you'd be amazed at how much you discover (I had migraines, among other things, for years, and I only get them 1-2 times/year now!).

if you're ok with cheese and almond flour, we've made this one several times and it's quite delicious.

i've also just used sausage as the base.  take 1lb of hot italian and 1lb of mild italian bulk sausage and mix them together.  spread them out onto a cookie sheet that has a rim.  bake in the oven at 350 for 30 minutes.  drain off any accumulated fat.  top with whatever you want. throw back in the oven until cheese is melted to your liking (i usually do 10 minutes in 350 oven and then hit it with the broiler for a couple minutes).

Hello I found your question about homemade GF pizza and we always make ours at home.  We were just talking about how good it was and nothing out there even touches our pizza at home.... We use GF pizza crust from UDI's? not sure of the spelling, Pesto sauce, mushrooms, spinach , Mozzarella cheese and top it with Apple gate turkey pepperoni.  It is amazing.... First I put on the pesto sauce sells and add sea salt to it, then mushrooms and spinach, cover with mozzarella cheese and top with turkey bacon...on 400 for 15-20 and Oh goodness!!!! best pizza you will ever eat....so much better than the regular tomato  pizza sauce....I promise .... out of this world good!!!!

Hi,

I posted this recently. my opinion way better than cauli flower pizza ( you can pick it up without worrying about it falling apart in your hands)

2 plantains

2 eggs

Italian seasoning

Pizza sauce (homemade or jar)

mozzarella cheese
turkey pepperoni

peppers/onions (whatever other desired toppings)

Preheat oven to 450

Peel the plantains - you have to use a knife along the seams of the plantain so they peel easily.

Chop them up and place in a food processor with eggs and spices ( Italian, crushed red pepper, whatever you like)

After processed line a baking sheet with parchment paper ( this is key that you use parchment paper)

spread the plantain "dough" on the paper with a spatula. Then bake in oven for 10-15 minutes.

take it out of the oven, add sauce and toppings and then put it back in for another 10-15 minutes.

after it's done you can slide it off onto a cutting board and cut.

Thank you so much for this, @MRose!

I will definitely try out those recipes! I completely understand cutting things out completely, but when the cravings hit pretty strongly I like to know that I have healthier choices to choose from. I agree, there are times when it doesn't feel the same, but I'm trying to change the taste that I'm craving, if that makes sense? So that I can eventually remove it (original pizza) out of my diet for the most part.

I've never heard of the AIP diet before. I will check it out. Thank you again!!

I came up with this recipe as a healthy superbowl snack, but now we have these pizzas a lot.  Buy the huge portabellas, pop off the stem and using the side edge of a spoon scrape off the brown fins underneath and discard, wipe the mushrooms with a damp cloth and set aside. In a skillet with a little Pam or oil saute the chopped stems, with turkey sausage and peppers and onions if you like them.  put the tops upside down on a cookie sheet, spread sauce to the edges, add the sauted mixture, top with cheese and oregano and anything else you like,  Bake at 400 for about 20 mins, watch them.  i

I have been experimenting with plantains for my gluten intollerant granddaughter.  My pizza dough so far leaves much to be desired but the brownies I made were awesome.  Plantain cooking is new to me so I know there is just the correct ripeness to look for depending wether the dish is savory or sweet.  I think it would be relatively easy to make some nutritious pancakes with them too.  Will keep trying on that pizza dough.

I've made AIP pizza using these GF dough and No-mato sauce, and they taste really good.  For pizza toppings we like to use black olives, bacon, onion, and bits of chicken breast.

I use the sauce in this recipe:

Hey there guys! Try this broccoli crust pizza! Heart It's easy, healthy and super yummy. I was wondering if anyone has tried this recipe before. This is what you will need:

  • For the broccoli crust
1 small organic broccoli head, divided in small florets (or 2-3 cups or organic vegetable pulp)
    2 onions
    4 cloves of garlic
    3 eggs
    2 tbsp of psyllium husk
    1 tsp salt
    1 fresh pepper
  • For the topping:
    2 tbsp concentrated tomato paste
1 glass of artichoke hearts in oil, drained
    100 g creamy goats cheese
    1 small onion, thinly sliced
    10 cherry tomatoes, in halves
Fresh green leaves (spinach or arugula)
  • Now, for the garlic oil
    4-5 cloves of garlic
    ½ cup olive oil
    1 tsp white wine vinegar
    a pinch of salt

Mozzarella cheese to taste.

  •  Directions:
Start by preheating the oven to 400°F. In a food processor combine onions, broccoli, garlic for the base and pulse until finely chopped (alternatively grate broccoli and onions by hand). Add egg, psyllium husk and season and pulse until combine. Set a side.
Pour the broccoli base onto a lined baking stone. Gently use a spatula to divide out the mixture until you have an even green pizza crust. Make sure the edge is slightly thicker than the rest of the crust to avoid burning. Bake in the oven for 15 min.
Make the garlic oil by combining everything in a blender/food processor and pulse until you have a lovely strong oil – pour into a bowl or glass.
When the crust has baked it’s time to add the topping. Start with spreading out a thin layer of tomato paste. Then add the onions, tomatoes and artichokes and mozzarella cheese to taste. Place the pizza back in the oven for additional 5-10 min.
Top the pizza with fresh leaves and creamy goats cheese, and serve the pizza hot with olive oil on the side.
