Is eating Dumplings ok?

ANSWERED

I work out 6 days a week (cardeo + gym alternate days) & one meal a week I cheat(eat chinese etc but no cheese or butter) But I simply love chicken dumplings & once a week besides my cheat day I eat 4-5 boiled chicken dumplings. It's the flour coating on them that is bothering me as I avoid flour in all other forms. Also, I have stopped beer intake & have now switched to rum or whiskey 4-5 pegs a week. Is that amount ok??

@abby_p - I am a firm believer that nothing should be off limits.  However, if I'm remembering correctly you're working more on body composition than weight loss.  It can be less forgiving than simply trying to lose weight.  I'm in a weight loss only phase, although still doing a decent job of not losing any lean mass.  I don't exclude anything, but I rarely have more than a single drink at a sitting (but have had 3 or 4 a couple of times over the last few months).  It has not affected my loss so far.

Make your adjustments, continue this way for a couple of weeks, and see what it brings.  I truly believe that whether working on weight loss or body composition that you need to find something for you that works long term.

For fat loss, calories rule. You don’t get fatter (or fail to get leaner) by eating one type of food (or drinking one type of alcoholic beverage) instead of another one: you get fatter when eating/drinking more calories than you are expending, and you get leaner when eating/drinking less than you are expending.

If you are drinking 200 calories worth of some alcoholic beverage (which brings no nutritional benefits whatsoever) and that prevents you from reaching the deficit you need for fat loss, you will have to cancel it somehow, either by doing some extra exercise that will cause you to burn these 200 calories, or by refraining from eating something that would also have been worth 200 calories (but most likely would have been more nutritious).

Hi ! In terms of liver disease, the type of beverage consumed not so important, the beer is just as harmful as is any brandy ...! Daily consumption of a moderate amount of alcohol is more harmful for liver than one binge a week, since in the latter case, the liver has time to recover after effect of alcohol !!! Alcohol is the most common cause of liver disease worldwide, with hepatitis viruses B and C !!! And because your liver turns into fat any amount of alcohol, alcoholic fatty liver is a cause for alcoholic cirrhosis and alcoholic hepatitis !!! I recommend a glass at lunch (small!) red wine! Not everyday ! And moore brisk walking!

You might want to cut your alcohol consumption; that's liquid calories and not at all good for you. (If I have one drink a month, that's a lot.)

As for the dumplings, since they are boiled and not fried, I don't think a few dumplings one day a week is going to hurt, even the flour coating.

LOL, after all this talk about alcohol, and having way too many calories left (although I went out for lunch, I had a protein bar for breakfast, and a lighter dinner) I'm going to celebrate this thread with:

1 bag sun chips

cashews  <-- the only good nutrition item here

some kind of homemade cooler with vodka and/or pisco

(although I usually don't take sugar-free sweetened items, I will tonight, plus a healthy dose of lime juice)

Okay, I also had a good day (long story) and I think a drink would be good.  Woman Tongue
