Do people use the fitbit app to log the amount of food they eat, and if so is it worth it? It sounds good in theory, but I find it very encumbersome.

Fitbit's food database is widely regarded as wrong. Most foods are incorrect and cannot be corrected. Fitbit's own forums suggest using myfitnesspal to track your food. It's more accurate and more user friendly. The only downside is it's another place to log info.
