I am starting a new job and there is no fridge or microwave. I would love some lunch ideas. I do have a thermos and some ice packs. 🙂
Thanks!

Hi Weebs, Must let you know I can not do without my crockpots small and large. Winter time and summer time my crockpots are always going it is so easy to bring chicken to outings in it. and some time I just put meatballs and sauce in it and bring grander rolls that way everyone can make a grander. You will love it. Thank have lots of crockpot recipes on line. Happy cooking and enjoy.

I would take Fruits and Vegies. They dont neet Micro or Frig. Lunch would be a great time to take in the good stuff you need. Also take along enough for break snack. Just a thought.

You might try going to a camping type store. There are lunch boxes that have two sides, one for heat with a microwavable heating thing and a cold side with a freezer thing, I think there is also a thermos. I don't remember brand or store. Academy or Bass Pro shop.

Clementines are great, and lettuce wraps keep pretty well in a lunch box

Ready Pac Bistro Salads - at least five varieties at my local supermarket chain, all under 300 calories including dressing - http://www.readypac.com/product-category/bistro/ - and in my stores, only $2.98 per salad

Mason Jar Salads! There are recipes all over the internet and they work great. Make some on Sunday and they'll be fresh for the week. You'll just need an insulated lunch bag with some cold packs and it's easier if you toss your salad in a large bowl for eating. Enjoy!

I find this a surprisingly satisfying meal. I often take it to work, from the fridge, and have it for breakfast or late morning snack. Easy and filling.

When my kids were in school they all had a thermos. Boil some water and put it in the thermos, warm up your red beans, white beans, chili, spaghetti, soup, whatever leftover needs to stay hot, empty the hot water from the thermos and put your nice, warmed up lunch in there. It will be hot at lunchtime. I filled my kids thermos' at 7 am, at 11:30/12:00 their food was still hot.
They still rag me about being seniors in high school and having to bring their lunch. They ate well and now use this particular trick for their luches once again. You can actually fill it with ice or freeze it as well (check your instructions on the freezing of the thermos - some you can't) and whatever needs to stay chilled will do so. That came in handy when the freezer packs exploded because children throw their freaking lunch boxes around as if they're made of steel. Yes, freezer pack can and do explode when handled beyond their limits. Good times. (actually, yes, really, good times)

chicken and veggies prepped for the week are my go to for lunch. I also enjoy rice cakes with almond butter and some apples for snacks and hummus.

I got a book for bentos. (Japanese for boxed lunch). A lot of these are japanese dishes, but i've found a few americanized ones. These are easy to make and they are made to not have to heat up (most) and easy to carry.
I personally, make a bulk of chicken or turkey or a main dish to freeze (for my protein) and just make a salad each day and by the time i eat lunch, the food is defrosted and it's perfect meal for my day 🙂

I just bought that little crock pot for myself. It is wonderful. I bring my soup to work. First thing I do in the morning is put the soup in the little crock, put it all back together ( has 2 lids), and plug it in. And work. Then when it is time to eat. Just unplug it and take it to the table. undo the 2 lids and eat. So great. No need for microwave. The inside metal pot lift out for easy serve or cleanup. How did I ever live without it.
