NO WEIGHT LOSS

I have tried to lose weight for some time & not been on any fad diets, just tried to eat healthy followed NHS plan couple of pounds off then nothing, now decided to try Slimfast plan approx 1200 calories per day.  I brisk walk 3miles x 3 weekly & attend gym 3.x weekly, I enter everything I eat on my fit bit app so I know my calorie intake also calories I burn which I burn more than I eat, everything I have read up says this can't be true what am I doing wrong. I am a fit 72 year old lady 5ft who is sick of being a dumpling (11st) I did lose 2lb first week, then nothing.

You dont' say how much you need to lose.  That makes a difference.  If you started your exercise when you began our food program it could be that you are building muscle.  I am 66 and I lose very slowly.   If you are eating healthy and exercising, then you are doing good things for your body.  Don't go crazy low on calories, keep on doin what you are doing, be patient,

Thank you for your reply, at 5ft & 11st I would ideally like to lose 21lb but 1 st if possible. I have counted calories for ages & know some times probably not accurate but, this Slimfast diet (which is expensive) counts the calories for me so I definitely know calories consumed in a day also I know from my fitbit app calories used which is allways more than I consume that means I should be losing weight. I have been intouch with my GP who is referring me to the digital weight management service whoever they are? I know my problem will not beleived by some but I know myself through the diet & exercise something doesn't add upp & it is making my life unbearable only time I go out is gym & walking what a life !!

I think age makes things more difficult as well. Our metabolism slows down and things don't always work as expected. I would also ask you why you are trying to lose weight. Are you unhealthy? Do you have diabetes or heart disease? Does your GP think you are so overweight it could lead to stroke? If you are healthy and otherwise happy, maybe just eat right, stay active, see friends, laugh and eat things that bring you joy once in awhile.

Have you ever had your thyroid level checked? A low thyroid hormone level can cause hypothyroidism which causes weight gain/retention. I take a low dose medication to keep my thyroid level normal. Hang in there--I'm rooting for you!

I'm 62 and feeling the same challenge.  I joined Weight Watches, lost 4 lbs and then just stopped.  I'm now logging calories and monitoring my exercise in the hopes of reaching my goal weight.  I'm tired of being a dumpling, too!

Hi  Anewbeginning, I hope your day is starting off well! Thank you for reaching out to me. I am new to scale back as well.  I enrolled in the Weight Watchers program too. Like you, I lost weight at Weight Watchers but it was a slow process and the fees kept compounding. I think scale back is going to be the answer for me. So far I have lost 10 lb since January. I get to eat almost anything I want and I am learning a lot about nutrition and serving sizes. Take care for now, RH.Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone
