when I tried the Kale chips, they never got crisp like a chip. Mostly wilty. Tasted good but not a hard texture. Cooked them longer but started to brown so had to pull them. Still not crunch to them, but mostly soft. Any ideas why?

Here's a snack that I like -
Kicked up Cottage Cheese:
I didn't really like cottage cheese, but I knew it to be a good low fat snack. So, I decided to put some things in to make it more palatable.
Take an Individual serving package of cottage cheese (usually anywhere between 90-120 cals per serving)
Mix in:
1/2 Tbsp of chia seeds,
1 tsp shredded coconut
10 dried cranberries
a couple of walnut pieces.
Sometimes, to change up the flavour, I'll add a teaspoon of fat free/sugar free pudding mix - lemon works really nicely.
It looks gross, but it's a good healthy snack and I find it very filling.

I recently stumbled across this website called Ulive and started watching a clip show called Lose 5 Lbs by Good House Keeping. Hard boiled eggs are a great afternoon snack, they say snacks should be 100 - 150 calories and twice a day between meals! Also, sweet potatoes (the real ones, not chips!) are a good snack too!

For snacks I snack on:
Sunflower seeds(any seed mix is good)
I have a nice hot vanilla chai tea from Bigelow(so yummy and sweet!)
Any hot tea will do, chai is my favorite. It comes in chocolate chai, vanilla chai, or regular chai, almost 0cals and has no artifical stuff in it.
Apples and Smuckers natual peanut butter
Bananas with peanutbutter
Mazato bread with chive cream cheese
Low fat blue berry bagel slice, with strawberry philly cream cheese.
A spoonfull of honey(organic)
A small salad with no dressing
Fruit salad
Salmon, chive cream cheese, on a cracker with spicy honey mustard on top.
All great snack choices, mostly under 100-200 cals too! Salmon is SOOO good for your overall skin health also, makes you look and feel wonderful! 🙂 ❤️
God bless!

Thanks for the popcorn idea tpauline! Love popcorn, but stopped buying the microwave stuff, and have been making it in a large spagetti pot with canola oil and old bay with a bit of added celtic sea salt. Paper bag is way less time consuming, and no oil (or dirty pots)! My easy go to snack is 10 almonds and a big glass of water, holds me for a while when I am feeling hungry.

Jogger, Guess what I did today and you might want to try it. I popped my popcorn in the bag,--- then I took a cookie sheet and put some wax paper on it ---- then laid out the popcorn -----then melted some dark chocolate and took a large spoon and dripped it over the popcorn. It was so good. I got the 79% chocolate or darker. My friend ate it all.. going to make it for the football game next week.
Have a good week and Keep on stepping. Your FibBit friend.. Smile with your steps.

I made this exact snack this weekend and really liked it . So easy to make and tastes good. The one difference in the recipe was this one also called for a 1/2 cup of grape juice. I used apple juice instead. I would think any juice would work.

APPLE CHIPS.
I work at home, so snacking is going to happen. I wanted to try and mimick my favorite snacks in a healthier way.
CHIPS - made purely from apples.
Preheat oven to 200 degrees
Core apple if you have a device - I don't
Cut into very very thin pieces starting from the bottom up (across the core)
If you have not already cored the apple, cut out the core from each piece (not the end of the world if you leave it, but it will be a better texture if you remove these hard centers)
Place apple pieces on parchmant paper (I use aluminum foil which works ok) on cookie sheet
Bake at 200 degrees for 1 hour
Flip apple pieces
Bake at 200 degrees fro 1 - 4 hours
YES it is a long wait, so I throw these in the oven in the morning so it is ready for my mid-day cravings. You can bake for less time and it will still be delicious just not as "chip-like".

I learned in my nutrition class that smokers need an extra boost of antioxidants than non-smokers. That means vitamins E and C haha. So I would recommend snacking on citris fruits, nuts and seeds, and maybe even guacamole with baked corn chips! Hope this helps! Good luck 🙂
