Red smoothies are my favorites but recently I tried this Green Smoothie :

2 cups spinach
2 cups water
1 cup mango
1 cup pineapple

Pack 2 cups of leafy greens in a measuring cup and then toss into blender. Add water and blend together until all leafy chunks are gone. Add the mango and the pineapple and blend again until smooth. 😸

These are my go-to:

Chocolate Cherry:

2 scoops chocolate protein, 1 cup frozen dark sweet cherries, 1 Cup almond milk (or water)

( I also add in chia seeds and matcha)

Mango & Spinach

1 Cup frozen Mango, 1 Cup spinach, 1 cup almond milk (or water)

( I also add in chia seeds and matcha)

I will probably soon do like the other poster and add in a pineapple with the mango. or just do mango and greens.

I got easy recipe ideas from this site:

I buy big bags of frozen fruit at Costco. 🙂

Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie

  • 2/3 cup frozen chopped spinach
  • 2 tbsp PBfit peanut butter powder
  • 2 large spoonfuls of nonfat unsweetened greek yogurt (I use Oikos Triple Zero vanilla)
  • 1 banana (peeled, of course)
  • Approximately 8oz of regular vanilla almond milk (can get unsweetened to save on calories)

Blend for 55 seconds in my NutriBullet and turns out great every morning.  Enjoy!

If you want a sweeter option, I always like these 4 ingredients:

- a mix of fresh berries (any mix of one or more of blueberries/raspberries/strawberries),
- a ripe banana,
- a cup or so of nonfat Greek Plain Yogurt,
- a cup or so of Orange or Grapefruit juice.

Blend it well and drink. Be careful if you need to drink any pills in the morning as citrus juice might react with them!

As another option, you might try green smoothies, though these are not for everyone: mixing greens with fruits.

-5-8 frozen strawberries
-2-3 stalks of chard/kale/collard greens OR handful of spinach/dandelion greens
-1/2 cup almonds
-2 tbsp hemp powder
-1 tbsp turmeric (anti-inflammatory -i have acne, so it helps!)

Here are more, so you can check it out.
Besides the greens suggested elsewhere (like kale and spinach), consider romaine lettuce. It has a mild flavor and decent nutrition. Parsley, cilantro, basil, and mint are good, too. I like parsley blended into dairy or almond milk (I make it at home using my blender - Tribest, info is here just in case, as my friend was arguing with me that anything except Vitamix is not capable of grinding nuts - just soak them overnight, then toss out the soaking water, and throw almonds in blender).

Have fun!
