What has happened about correcting the lifetime miles problem?

The word on the help board a few days ago was that someone was working on this problem. Anybody know "what's cooking" with solving the problem?

The last I heard was that fitbit had identified the problem and prevented it from reoccuring but they are still working on how to reverse the damage done.
