does anyone have a good substitute for mayonnaise? i sometimes use plain greek yogurt, but it doesn't always work out because it is too strong/sour tasting. i am really looking for something to use for chicken salad or tuna salad, or to make tarter sauce. thanks

Unless you get pasturized eggs -
a little more expensive but I have usually seen them in 6's as well as dozens
Best AnswerHummus! I use it on sandwiches and for dipping artichokes. I don't think it would be good for tartar sauce, but you can try. I bet it would be good for chicken salad.
Guacamole is a great substitute for mayo! Or try some great tasting hummus! Guac is creamy and has great flavor, it is rich in fat but the right kind 😉
Hope this helps!

I'll have to try guacamole -- I use just plain avocado all the time. I mix it with tuna for tuna salad and I spread it on sandwiches.
Best AnswerWhat about making your own mayo? That is what I do.
The recipe I use is:
1 uncooked large egg yolk
1 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp cider vinegar
1/4 tsp dijon mustard
1/4 cup Avocado Oil
Blend the first 4 ingredients together and slowly add the oil while still blending. It will last in the fridge for about 2 days. It doesn't make a lot of it but we think it is quite good.

Best Answerjust buy high quality eggs, i get the cage free non processed eggs and have never had a problem, and i make mayo on a weekly basis.
i do -
1-2 eggs (whites and yolks)
1 cup grapeseed oil
2-3 tbsp lemon juice
garlic power
salt
throw it all in a jar, and mix-er up with an immersion blender, easy peasy, and takes just a few mins. so much better for you! just dont use it past a week.
Best AnswerYou may find Veganaise in your local grocery store with the organic things. It will be under refrigeration. There are several different formulations.
Another substiture for mayo is hummus. There are now so many different hummus flavors!
