13 year old cannot sync an Inspire 3

The info i read is that you need to be 13 and older to be able to sync your inspire 3 to your phone. This is the case for my daughter and yet the only option available to her is to sync to an ace 3 tracker. Why? We live in the UK so maybe the minimum age is higher but i could not find any info on the web. Thanks.

This is how the issue was resolved for me (it was indeed related to Google Family Link).

1: I "graduated" my 13y+ child's account. (On your child's device opens a Google Chrome browser and visits "families.google.com/graduation" )

2: I then stopped being her account supervisor

3: I removed her from the family link

4: after about 10 hours (why 10 hours? maybe this is the cycle time for that server) I received an email saying she could now a standard fitbit account.

5: reinstalled the fitbit app on her phone. Inspire3 shows up as an option.

6: I am planning to re invite her to the google family link (if she lets me 🙂

not straight forward but it worked!

Hi @y_runner 13 is for the US. 16 is for the UK and other European countries. To be sure, I've asked a Fitbit Moderator to let you know.

@y_runner   I believe the information given by @Odyssey13 is incorrect.  I know for a fact that it was 13 when the UK was part of the EU.  GDPR no longer applies, since you are no longer part of the EU.  My search mentioned a Children's Code and the Online Safety Act of 2023.  I still think your age is 13.  Do you use Google Family Link?  If so, Google Family Link is the issue.  It is my understanding that you need to remove your child from Family Link.  It is also my understanding that you can put you daughter back in your Family link after it is set up.

We’ve just discovered the same in Australia. Got the Inspire as it has a cycle tracker (kids ones don’t) but can’t sync it for the kids. So annoying

Thank you for the tip. You are correct, in the uk, 13 is the age for fitbit, so the age limit is probably not the issue i am facing. However Family Link does not give me the option to remove a Supervised Child. I can delete the family link altogether, but not remove a child... hmm... i asked Google for help, no answers yet..

Hi everyone !
I really appreciate all your messages and participation in the forums.
The minimum age varies depending on the country, and in the specific case of the UK it is in fact 13 years old.

@y_runner Welcome to the Community !
I was able to verify your contact with support, so I recommend that you keep an eye on your email inbox and even spam, as that could be the contact route.

I'm having the same issue.  My daughter is 13, her Gmail account is on our Family Link, and I only get the Ace kids options when trying to add her new Inspire 3 to her phone.  What do I do next?

My kids are 13 and 15 and we are in the US. How come it only shows the kid devices? I am so frustrated right now these were Christmas presents and if they wont work they are now expensive paper weights

I’m having the same issue with my 13 year old in the US, there’s no error message, it just only shows Ace devices, no Inspire 3 when I try to add the device. I removed her from our Family Link, tried logging out and back in, still no luck.

Having the same issue which is beyond frustrating!! I expect better customer support from a company that is struggling to keep up with the competition. If it’s not easily resolved I’m going to switch to an Apple Watch.

No error message.  Here is the issue:

My daughter logs into her Fitbit App, tries to add a device.  The only options are:

Ace LTE - for kids!

Ace 3 - for kids!

Ace 2 - for kids!

Ace - for kids!

I've attached a photo for you to see.  She is 13 years old, her Google Account birthday is correct.

Hi everyone !
Thank you for all your feedback and images sent.
I'm sorry to hear this issue still persists.
Could you please take a look at this article When can my child manage their own account?
(As explained in the article, an email should have been sent, could you please check your inbox and even the spam ?)

More information can be found here How Google Accounts work when children turn 13 (or the applicable age in your country)

That doesn't help at all. Both of my kids are old enough to manage their own accounts as per that article since one is 15 and one is 13. There has to be a way for them to be able to add adult devices to their accounts.

I guess what you are trying to say (in the least concise way possible) is that we need to update our child's Google account (now that they are 13) in order for us to add an adult Fitbit to her account.  Is that correct?

---

I went it to her phone, found the email Google sent her, updated her account.  NOW WHAT?  I tried adding her Inspire 3 to her App, still no luck?

For what it’s worth, I updated my daughters Google account yesterday and it still didn’t work, but I had an email overnight saying she was eligible to upgrade her account and she was able to update and add the Inspire 3. So there may just be a lag in the update process.
