Hi everyone

I don’t understand why Fitbit tells me my activity levels are virtually non existent when I regularly (almost daily) do 20,000 steps hiking in a very hilly region? My inspire 3 records approx 120 active minutes daily but still says my recent activity is very low and that I need to do some intense workouts??? Any ideas …

Hi, @Anneraz , welcome to the Community forums!

As the Inspire 3 does not have an altimeter it will count steps but will not be able to detect that you are walking in a hilly region.  It will rate the intensity of your workout by whether your heart rate is raised.  Does your Fitbit seem to calculate your HR in an expected way?  If not, during exercise you may need to wear it a little tighter on your wrist and a little higher up.

If you are unusually fit, your heart rate may not increase as much as average for your age.  Another explanation could be if you take beta blockers or certain other medications that may artificially lower your heart rate.  In these cases you are able to set a custom heartrate that might be more realistic for you.

To customise your HR settings, from the opening screen of your app click on the gear icon top right and on the next screen click on “Activity and wellness” and then on “Heart settings” then on “Heart Rate Zones”.  At the bottom of the HR Zones page choose “Custom Heart Zone”.  This is a little more limited than the built in thresholds and you can only set a lower and upper limit.  You also will not get on-wrist notifications during exercise as you move through zones.

I hope this helps!
