App or fitbit correct?

Please tell me which to believe, my fitbit or the app for steps? Fitbit has latest firmware,  app was updated 5th September but they don't agree with each other, the app always shoes a random amount more! @MarreFitbit do you know anyone with a solution?

Thank you for providing the details regarding your Inspire 3.

If your Fitbit app is showing more steps than the tracker please confirm if you are using Mobile track. It is a service that allows you to count steps using your phone even if you forget to wear your Fitbit. You can "unpair" Mobile Track from your account.  On your Fitbit app go to the upper left corner, on the phone and device icon. Click on your phone icon and on the 3 dots and choose "unpair".

Thank you @ManuFitbit @ No idea if I have mobile track! Tried following instructions, but don't have 3 dots or unpair

Never had this discrepancy in 6 years of using fitbit, using this phone for last 2 years.

@ManuFitbit took the plunge and disconnected my phone, no idea why it suddenly started counting steps itself, and have sorted it, I think, at least today's readings are identical.  Can't remember the old results, just that they were out by varying amounts each day
