Can't turn off auto-detect exercise feature!!

My Fitbit updated recently, and it turned on the auto-detect exercise option, even though I had previously disabled this feature. I have gone into the settings and turned everything OFF again, but it is STILL AUTO-DETECTING EVERY EXERCISE. It is so annoying, especially because it's also inaccurate (i.e., it is recognizing an electric scooter ride - no exercise - as a bike ride). It is also detecting every walk, which is super annoying for me because I walk a lot and don't feel the need to track every single walk as timed exercise. I also had other issues recently where, out of nowhere, settings were changed (e.g., the text message notifications turned back on after I had previously turned notifications OFF on my Fitbit). Please help me turn this feature off.

Hi @angiericketts   The firmware update added a new feature.  This feature turns on the Exercise app, which is different from the auto-tracked exercises you control in the app.  This shortcut is in six shortcuts: walk, run, bike, elliptical, rowing, and spinning.  You control this setting in the Exercise app on the Inspire 3.  To turn them off:

  • Swipe left/right on your Inspire 3 screen and open the Exercise app.  Choose one of the shortcuts, Walk, for example.
  • Swipe up to go to the Walk settings, tile Set a Goal
  • Swipe up to Auto-start and toggle it off.

You definitely want to do this for Bike, too.  This feature got added to my Sense 2 and I turned it off in all 6 shortcuts.

omg THANK YOU, this was driving me nuts! I didn't realize the update added this feature directly on the device! I just turned them all off, and now suddenly the exercise shortcuts shown on the device are not matching what i have selected in the app.. (on the device it shows spinning, bike, and walk, and on the app I have only selected walk). If anyone has a fix for this issue as well, that would be appreciated! I feel like fitbit has been so glitchy since it switched to Google.

Nevermind, I found the answer here:

I guess my device only JUST decided to update to reflect this change, and my app has not updated to match. 🙃
