Excessive battery usage on iPhone by Fitbit app

Hi,

I recently got a Fitbit Inspire 3 (version 20001.188.58). After a couple of days of usage, I noticed that the battery life of my iPhone X (iOS 13) had shortened considerably. After a full charge, the battery would have fallen to 50% after only two hours. See the image below:

I tried to reduce the amount of battery usage by disabling what I could in the app: iPhone Notifications, high low heart rate notifications, irregular rhythm notifications, allow background activity of the app in iOS, reminders to move, etc.  None of the changed improved the battery life. Finally, I uninstalled the app and the battery life returned to normal.

You can see the much slower reduction in the battery below, where it went from a full charge to 50% after 13 hours.

This excessive battery usage can also be seen in the graph below, which shows the battery usage of the phone over 10 days:

Curiously, the app does not show up in the list of Apps in iOS that use the most power. I suspect that this is due to it using the power indirectly through the Bluetooth connection.

I would rather be able to keep using my Fitbit, as everything else about it seems OK. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to resolve this?

Some good news! I appear to have resolved the battery issue. I reinstalled the Fitbit app. I noticed that I had three devices linked to my account: the Fitbit Inspire, and two old Aria Bluetooth weighing scales that didn’t work anymore. I wasn’t able to remove them from the app, but when I logged into my dashboard on this website, I was able to do it from there. While I was logged in, I also disabled GPS tracking on the Inspire. These changes appeared to have reduced my battery use back to the way it was before I installed the app, which is great 😊
