How do I track dancing with my Inspire 3

Was really surprised to see that the inspire 3 doesn’t have an option to track dancing and doesn’t keep accurate step count if you just track it as a walking activity! I’ve seen posts requesting this functionality for other models for almost a decade now - please can this be expedited?

For one thing, there’s a bit of false advertising going on as one of the promotional statements on the Google site says “go ahead and dance in the rain if that’s how you want to work out today” - it’s will to me that the “dancing” part is what breaks down the Fitbit functionality and not the “rain” part.

Hello @Silversil008 and welcome to the Community.  Fitbit added a dance shortcut to some other models.  They are the Sense 2, Versa 4, and Charge 6.  But I can tell you from experience that it is the Workout shortcut with a different label.  This seems to be the case with other added shortcuts in the 40+ list, too.

There are ways to give feedback directly to Fitbit about adding dancing.  You can search the Product Feedback forum for a similar request.  If one exists, please vote for it and leave a comment.  You can start one if one doesn't exist.  You can give feedback to Fitbit directly in the Fitbit app  if you have migrated to a Google account.  You tap on your profile picture, then Send feedback.

Thanks LZeeW. I’ll go take a look at those options too.

Disappointing to know that the dance tracking on other models isn’t great however…

Hi, @Silversil008 , if you have updated your Inspire 3 to the latest OS, you will find that Dancing now is available for tracking on your Inspire 3, as per other Fitbit models.  You can track it in the usual way, using your Exercise app on the Inspire 3 and selecting “dancing”.  (Once it is selected it will be among the top options when you open the app, in case this is a regular activity for you.).

However, as @LZeeW says, this is really just a label.  Having said that, if you sometimes workout with dancing, and another time with, for example, boot camp or circuits or whatever, many people enjoy being able to see which exercises they have done, and many people like to see their specific workouts on their account record.

So I would definitely recommend first checking that your Inspire 3 has the latest software update (if an update is available to you you will be notified in the app) and then once updated, from your Inspire 3 clock screen swipe left until you come to the exercise app.  Tap to open and then scroll down to find the exercise options.  You should find “dancing” on the list, and once you select it, it will remain at the top of your personal list.

I hope this helps!

Edited to add: you should not take @LZeeW ‘s statement, and my confirmation, that this is just a “label” to mean that the tracking for dancing is poor!  It tracks in exactly the same ways as other exercises - it records your steps and HR and other stats and effects on your body, as far as it can interpret them, from the stats collected on your tracker from your workout.  Your body really does not care how you achieve your activity, as long as you do!
