Inspire 3 - Sleep tracking

ANSWERED

Sleep tracking is STILL not working properly!! Will someone from Fitbit please fix this? This function is extremely important to me and it is not working correctly. This is not the first time I’ve complained about this and I really would like a fix, a workaround, anything to solve it.

Good luck with that I have been on to support since 10 July regarding this and keep getting fobbed off, they know it is their issue but have you going around the houses trying different things rather than say their update has messed it up!

Welcome back to the community forums @julesjmj

Thank you for sharing the inquiry about this difficulty with your Inspire 3.

Even if you already tried some of the following steps, I'd like you to confirm that you have followed these steps below:

  • Switch the Heart Rate settings from On to Off and manually sync your watch. To switch the heart rate settings on your watch, from the main screen of your watch, swipe left until you see "Settings", next swipe up until you see "Heart Rate" and switch it to Off.
  • Once it's done, manually sync your Inspire 3. To do so, open the Fitbit app, tap on the Account icon, tap on your Inspire 3's image and tap on "Sync Now"
  • Next, switch it from Off to On and manually sync your watch once again.
  • Once it's done, restart your watch once again.
  • Next, confirm that your tracker is snug on your wrist (the lights shouldn't be visible) We also recommend when you're not exercising, wear the tracker just above the wrist bone.

Also, for more detailed information, see What factors can affect my heart-rate reading on my Fitbit device?

Keep in mind that you must see sleep stages in order to see your sleep score information. Please swipe left on the Sleep Score graph, here you can see information about your weekly sleep average and sleep duration. To get more detailed information, see What's sleep score in the Fitbit app?

I recommend considering the following in order to get sleep stages:

  • If you slept in a position that prevented your device from getting a consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely. For best results, wear your device higher on your wrist (about 2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone). The band should feel secure but not too tight.
  • If you used the Begin Sleep Now option in the Fitbit app (instead of simply wearing your device to bed). For more information on automatic sleep tracking, see How do I track my sleep with my Fitbit device?
  • If you slept for less than 3 hours.
  • If your device’s battery is critically low.

For more information, see What should I know about Fitbit sleep stages?

I was on Alaska cruise, my sleep data were so messed up. It shows I slept everyday afternoon 5pm till 11pm. My fitbit clock is sync-ed correct with my Wifi on and all worked but Sleep time and score. and I was home last night, got every good sleep, no sleep score!

I hope this gets fixed ASAP because I just bought my new Inspire 3 when my old Versa 2 drowned, and more than half of what I use it for is sleep tracking and sleep quality.

If thats screwed up, I may as well get a refund now.

I assume mine messed by Google took it over. Hopefully it will get better ( ps, last night was okay, not bad as few days ago)

This reply from ManuFitbit is irrelevant to the issue I have raised multiple times regarding this. It is not the tracker itself. It is the app and how it handles sleep logs.

Not working for me for at least a month. Records awake more that 50% of time in large blocks. Could my sensor be worn out?

That’s actually very unlikely. I don’t even know how many years I’ve had my current Fitbit for, but in all the years that I’ve had Fitbits, a sensor has never worn out. If your issue is with the actual record and not with how the app is handling the logs, then it is more likely due to where on your arm the watch is sitting while you are asleep.

It should not be too loose nor too tight and should actually sit above your wrist by an inch or so. You can also adjust the level of sensitivity to movements in the settings for sleep. So if you move around a lot, your sensitivity should not be set to sensitive.

The sleep tracking problem isn't because "Google took it over." I've had Fitbits since the Flex (2nd one, many years ago). Google has improved Fitbit noticeably, although I cannot cite specifics, because I haven't kept track.

The sleep data problem is apparently the result of a fairly recent reprogramming of that particular function, and I've read recent (mid-October 2025) reports from others that it is now fixed. I now have a Charge 6, and it's OK most of the time, but I use the Sensitive setting.

Well, in my opinion, it is. I don’t know if it’s because of Google take over but it is absolutely since Google’s take over. all that really doesn’t matter, though. What matters is the fact that it still does not work the way that it should or the way that it used to. By this, I do not mean the actual sleep tracking by the device, but rather the apps logging of it. I don’t know if that makes sense to anybody, but they are two distinct things
