I've been using an Inspire 3 for several months. I just noticed today that my step count was higher than expected (9.6k) for a rather sedentiary day for me. I carry it in my pocket with no strap.
I checked my phone (which is also on me almost all the time) and that shows 4.5k.
I noticed in app that both devices were connected for tracking and I removed the phone. Is it possible it added those steps in? And if so, why wouldn't the tracker show the accurate number still? I always figured the sync was kind of a one-way street. I could see if the app showed 9.6k but the Inspire and the phone both showed 4.5k.
Any thoughts?

Hi, @xionli2, welcome to the community, the best analysis of movement via the device accelerometers occurs when you wear your device on your wrist. The alternative is to use a clip to your clothing (ensure you have the correct setting engaged on your Inspire 3); placing the device in your pocket is unlikely to create an accurate record of steps. If both your phone & the Inspire 3 are carried loose in a pocket their different weights are likely to impact their records. If you want to edit your steps record note the advice & guidance How do I add, edit, or delete Fitbit data and activities? - Fitbit Help Center
I hope this helps.
Cheers
