Hi, @Geek1956 , unfortunately under certain circumstances a wrist worn device may not accurately record steps, and you have just described some of these circumstances!  It is not unusual that indoor steps are not fully recorded - this is basically because the vibrations from your feet, which need to travel through your body and along your arm to your wrist tracker were too weak by the time they got to your wrist.  That means that sometimes walking on carpet means you will miss some steps, and if you are someone particularly light on your feet, you may barely get any steps counted at all.  Adding to that, you have reported that you were also holding a crutch, and that will certainly mean that the crutch will be taking much of the load (that is, after all, what it is designed to do!).

The Fitbit needs to detect a combination of vibrations and forward motion - if it does not detect sufficient vibrations to indicate walking, then the algorithm is trained not to detect it as a step.

If most or all of your walking is currently indoors using a walking aid (crutch or walker) I don’t think that this Fitbit is meant for you as a wrist worn device.  However, you may find that you get better results if you try wearing it on a clip, or in your pocket, close to your core.  For most folks just around the hip works best.  You can find clips for the Inspire 3 on the Fitbit Store website or on Amazon.

If you do decide to wear it on the hip instead, let us know how it goes.  Welcome to the Community Forums!
