Inspire 3 missing steps after sync

I got my Fitbit Inspire 3 about 6 weeks ago.  In the last few weeks, on at least 3 occasions and maybe more (I don't want to exaggerate), it has counted steps, then lost them.  Yesterday is a great example.  I watched my step count and made sure I was past 10k.  (I actually last looked when at around 9800, but I kept walking so I know I passed 10k.)  The Fitbit showed those steps right up until midnight, then reduced them to 33 steps for the whole day!  Details:  Per the "Exercise Days" info in the app, I walked for 32 min starting at 6:37 pm, 0.89 miles, earning 1922 steps.  Then I walked another 2.53 miles in 1 hr, 4 min, getting 5459 steps.  Again, it shows this in the app.  However, my daily total shows *33 steps* for the day.  It shows 0 Zone Min, 0.01 miles walked, and 1,887 calories.  The Steps heading shows 33 steps, all in the 8 am hour.

How can it show NO activity except at 8 am when it shows that I walked twice in the evening?  And I walked throughout the day.  As noted, I was over 10k for the day, but it is showing 33.

By the way, some of the support items say to check the online record.  As far as I can tell, there is no online record any longer.  The Dashboard in my account just tells me to download the app.

In case it is needed, I have a Fitbit Inspire 3, and I'm syncing with an iPhone 17, iOS 26.1.

Hello @BamBam742 and @RosemaryJC!  Welcome to the Fitbit Community! It's great to have you here!

Thank you for sharing the details about this situation with your Inspire 3.

In this case please try the following steps:

  1. Restart your Inspire 3.
  2. Sign out from your account.
  3. If you have an iPhone please offload the app.
  4. If your phone is an Android uninstall and reinstall the app.
  5. Log in
  6. Sync with your app.

To offload the app:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap General and then iPhone Storage.
  3. Scroll through the list of apps and tap in the Fitbit app.
  4. On the Fitbit app's information screen, tap Offload App.
  5. Confirm by tapping Offload App again in the pop-up menu.

Thank you for your suggestion.  I just tried all steps in order.  (I had already tried restarting the Fitbit and offloading the app separately, but this time I did it in the order you described.)  It did not appear to have any effect.  I still see 33 total steps for Monday, while still showing the two walk exercises and all their steps.

I’m having the same issue. I had over 20k steps today. When I synced with my phone, the number of steps were reduced to 7k in the app and the device. I followed the steps outlined above and the missing steps did not reappear.
