I just ordered and received an inspire 3. I have it charged and connected etc and everytime I sync it the step count decreases. I have done everything I can think of to troubleshoot this..restart, restart phone, uninstall fitbit app, etc and nothing seems to be fixing this. Am I missing something to fix this? Maybe the fitbit is defective and I need to exchange it? I am not new to fitbits..I have had a fitbit since the original one came out years and years ago and i have never had this problem. Thanks for any help

I recommend you to read the following article because even if you did many troubleshooting steps you can check the article again because the order of the steps can be also important. How do I track my steps with Fitbit with my phone?
Other recommended step is to update your device to the latest version like indicated here: Update your Fitbit device.
